Off-Grain by Chloé is a prêt à porter line designed for the rebellious girl who chooses to go against the grain. The consumer exudes a feminine grit aesthetic and feeds into dark, vintage-led romantic looks. She appreciates craftsmanship and high-quality pieces in her wardrobe that fit her bohemian chic taste without the designer price. Creating a ready-to-wear line for a designer brand includes being price-conscious when choosing fabrics and closures while maintaining the aesthetic and signature styles of the designer brand. The creation of this line entailed combining variations of fabric textures and styles to create five looks that could be mixed and matched. This line is defined by its forced cohesion of a variety of fabrics, such as suede, wool, leather, and chiffon. The fabric and finishes are layered, and the designs have off-kilter placings and constructions. Some garments are embellished with gold closures and rhinestones for practicality and style. Styling these pieces entails the eclectic use of accessories to further draw into the boho-chic aesthetic of the collection, such as handmade scarves, neck pieces, and belts. The names of each look are inspired by the street names and numbers of Chloé’s flagship stores throughout the world, including Hong Kong, London, Paris, New York City, and Los Angeles.
